On a daily basis, the real estate investment accountant is responsible for acquiring, developing, financing and managing quality real estate investments. With more than one hundred investment partners nation wide, our client has an ?Investor First? mindset with a significant co-investment in all programs. The real estate investment accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of the operations of real estate properties acquired and/or developed through the company?s various investment/fund vehicles. These investments may include office, multi-family, industrial, retail, hotel and mixed-use properties. This position supports the Investment Accounting Manager and other investment accountants as needed. This investment accountant position works closely with the members of the Fund Accounting team that are responsible for the accounting and reporting of the investment entities and fund vehicles that own interests in the real estate properties on which the Investment Accounting team is reporting. The essential duties for the Investment accountant are the following: ? Review gain calculations at month-end to ensure they are consistent with the GL ? Review and approve vendor approvals in Yardi ? Review and approve receipt batches ? Review and approve tenant statements ? Review and approve billbacks ? Review AVID invoices (depending on how much property experience a candidate has) ? Review lease abstracts (depending on how much property experience a candidate has) ? Review insurance accruals/prepaids ? Review and approve monthly property tax accruals ? True up property taxes at year-end ? Reconciling WIP accounts ? Preparing entries to capitalize projects in progress ? Review cash trial balances and prepare entries to reclass non-cash basis items ? Review WIP on FV properties and reclass amounts as necessary ? Review and post straight-line rent ? Prepare Utility accruals ? Prepare CAM true ups The best candidates for the Investment accountant position will have the following qualification: Qualifications: ? Ability to commit to a temporary role for an anticipated duration of up to six months ? Bachelor''s degree in Finance or Accounting ? 1+ year of relevant commercial real estate accounting experience ? Proficient in Microsoft Office ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ? Yardi experience preferred; or other corporate accounting software systems ? Joint venture/partnership accounting experience preferred ?
